WHAT

Create new tunes using a mini tongue drum

YOU WILL NEED:

Paper, a pen or pencil, a tongue drum

1. Use the tongue drum number card to orientate the drum. If you want to, place the drum on some paper and write the numbers around the outside.

2. Try playing a few notes with the beater to start. See which numbers you like the sound of best.

3. Now take a pen and paper and create your own combination of notes. Start with picking 5 numbers and then try ones of 10 numbers long

4. Play the notes you have created on your tongue drum. Notice how fast or slow you naturally play each note. What happens if you change the speed (or rhythm) of certain note combinations?

5. Once you have a melody that you really like. Try humming / singing the melody at the same time as playing it.
