Ruler Beats

WHAT

Create a simple beat using a ruler

YOU WILL NEED:

A metal ruler, a whiteboard pen

1. Hold the ruler against a table and flick it to make a pitched sound.

2. Experiment with moving the ruler to different places on the edge of the table to find different sounds

3. Chose two or three sounds you like and then use the whiteboard pen to mark those points out on the ruler

4. Play different patterns / combinations / rhythms using the sounds that you've marked to make a beat!

5. (Optional) Add in some extra percussive sounds using the whiteboard pen in between ruler sounds when you play.
