4# Seeds

#4 Seeds

WHAT

A mindful doodle using simple seed motifs to create a flower inspired image.

YOU WILL NEED:

A fine black felt-tip pen (berol or similar), a small brush and water, cartridge paper (or your sketchbook)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Take a few moments to gather together the materials you will need. Clear a space on your table or desk. Take three deep breaths. In through the nose and out the mouth.

  1. Near the centre of the page, draw a small seed shape using two small arcs.

  2. Draw a second seed connecting to one of the points of the first seed

  3. Add two more seeds to make a four pointed star or cross. Now draw a further seed between each of the first seeds to form an eight petalled flower.

  4. Working in a methodical fashion, start to add additional seeds to gradually expand the flower outwards. Repeat this approach until the flower feels like it fills the page.

  5. Using a small amount of water add subtle shadows to your seeds and flower to suggest depth.
