6# Stipple Drips

#6 Stipple Drips

WHAT

A fun doodle built from drips and stipple dots.

YOU WILL NEED:

A fine black felt-tip pen (berol or similar), a small brush and water, cartridge paper (or your sketchbook)

INSTRUCTIONS:

PART ONE

Take a few moments to gather together the materials you will need. Clear a space on your table or desk. Take three deep breaths. In through the nose and out the mouth.

  1. Starting near the centre of the page, draw a drip shape, starting at the point, swinging down in to a soft curve and linking back up with the starting point..

  2. Lift your pen and move another area of the paper and draw another drip making sure it connects with the first.

  3. Repeat instruction 2 varying the size and shape of the drips until your page feels full.

  4. Now revisit each of your shapes and add a second drip shape within each drip.

  5. Within the larger drips add a third drip.

  6. Using a series of gentle dots, stipple a dotty background pattern in a slow and controlled rhythmic manor. Don’t forget to breathe.
